Commentary: The title has double meaning reminding us that Black baseball players were “blackballed” from playing in White Major Leagues, until Jackie Robinson came along. Needless to say, but worth saying anyway until it finally sinks in, that this form of being blackballed was not limited to baseball, nor is it something that disappeared when baseball began to integrate back in 1947.
