Commentary: Two views of the American Dream of home ownership are mounted on opposite sides of a lazy susan, demonstrating the dichotomy of that dream in our society. Both views inhabit the same base, but each view is invisible to and structurally separate from the other. However, both were vulnerable to the foreclosure crisis that swept the country when the housing bubble collapsed during the Great Recession of 2008.
Medium: Reconstructed old doll house with 2 sides on lazy Susan with 2 vintage wood racist caricature Black dolls on shabby side & 3 painted wood block White dolls on shiny side on old linoleum child's kitchen table, 2 handmade wood “for sale”signs
