Commentary: The visual pun here is that the word “can” is slang for “jail” or “prison”. The point is that there are way too many Black men in the “can”. “African American men are incarcerated at 5 times the rate of Whites. If Black and Hispanic men were incarcerated at the same rate as White men, the prison population would decline by 40%.”*
