Description |
|
The Magdalene asylums also known as the Magdalene Laundries were institutions set up to house “fallen women”. The woman – young girls usually - confined in these institutions were in essence prisoners; and were forced to do “laundry” and other menial tasks.. This piece by – with a doll crucified to a portable ironing board – pays homage to those poor women and speaks out against the atrocity of these asylums.
